Book IX
Book IX continues the subject of friendship, beginning with arguments between friends. To avoid disagreements, Aristotle recommends that friends set a value to the benefits they give one another, especially if those values differ. The one who receives the benefit should determine the value, and if there’s a conflict between repaying friends and repaying others, the others should be repaid first.
