Introduction to Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway

The short stories in this lesson plan were published in various collections and publications between 1927 and 1938, including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, two of Hemingway's short story collections, Men Without Women (1927) and Winner Take Nothing (1933). Like his novels, much of Hemingway's short fiction mirrors elements of his own life. Ties between the stories can be drawn based on common settings familiar to Hemingway and portrayals of historical events which shaped the "Lost Generation."
