What characterizes George and Martha's relationship?

George and Martha's relationship thus far is characterized by conflict and attack. Martha insults George, and seems to assume a particular sense of power in the relationship via both her dominant personality and the fact that her father is the president of the University; George, while less assuming, uses his snobbery to both attack and remove himself from Martha. Albee seems to portray a certain level of sexual chemistry between them; students should consider the question of to what degree their attacks are "fun and games," part of their romance, and to what degree their chemistry is only momentary reprieves.
