    Why is Margaret so upset by the conversation with her grandparents?

    Students should note Margaret's narration: "Didn't they know I was a real person—with feelings of my own!" Margaret is angry that her grandparents are drawing conclusions about something deeply personal to her—her religion—when they don't know her at all. However, she also seems angry at her parents, who are defending the way that they raised her. She's not sure she wants a religion, but she's not sure she doesn't; she knows that she doesn't want anyone else to make the decision for her.
