Why does Tommy say that the old book is a "waste," suggesting that "when you're through with it, you just throw it away"?
After mentioning this, Tommy says that his television screen has had a million books and that that is why he wouldn't throw away his TV, suggesting that once something is read on his TV, he and his family dispose of the book and move onto to something else. The book seems like a waste to him because he believes that previous generations would have disposed of this physical book the same way he would dispose of his digital ones.
