    Structure:

    George Orwell was a passionate advocate for social equality. At the time that Animal Farm was conceived and written, Europe was experiencing much turmoil: the rise of Nazism in Germany had been threatening to engulf Europe, Socialists had recently fought and lost to Fascists in the Spanish Civil War, and the tyrannical regime of Joseph Stalin in the USSR was beginning.
