    Students will understand satire and be able to identify instances of it within the novel.

    Structure:

    Establish a baseline of what students know about satire. Can anyone define it? What are some characteristics of satire? Keep track on the white board or a similar collaborative document. This website provides a good definition of satire. Satire is a form of criticism through humor, exaggeration, and ridicule.
