Students should begin by selecting a topic from the following list:

World War II

The New Deal

The pharmaceutical industry in the 1950s

Psychiatry in the 1950s

Students may also propose their own topic, but the instructor should make sure that it is neither too broad nor too narrow for the time given in this research project.
