Journaling: Happy Birthday

Students will use a story as inspiration for a journal entry.

Structure:

Explain to students that journaling is one way to connect with a story. Writing without thinking too hard about it or worrying about mistakes is a great way to let ideas flow. In this activity, students will respond to a journal prompt related to the story “Happy Birthday.”
