Insults in Shakespeare

Students will be able to describe why insults are important in Shakespeare.

Structure:
Begin the activity by having students turn to the text. Instruct them to skim through Hag-Seed and find the Shakespeare insults that the incarcerated men use. Have students shout out the terms and write them on the board. Then, show this TedEd video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdCjKH5IKJ8). The video describes insults in Shakespeare and why the insults are partly why Shakespeare has endured as a masterful writer.
