Structure:

The purpose of this activity is to make sure students are aware that there are both good and bad ways to respond to a disclosure of sexual assault by comparing ten provided tips with Rachel’s response to Melinda’s disclosure in the novel. Prior to this activity, students should have read the list of “10 Tips for Responding to a Disclosure of Sexual Assault or Abuse” in the back of the novel, and should come to class ready to discuss those tips, as well as how Rachel responded to Melinda’s...
