The Women's Market Rebellion

Objective:

The students will learn about an attempted rebellion during Nigerian colonization

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.1, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.6

Structure:

The students will read an account of the Market Rebellion from a white woman, Margery Perham. Perham was living in Nigeria and was considered a friend of both Nigeria and the Igbo people up until the Biafran secession movement. The teacher should have copies available for each student in the class to read individually.
