Bringing in Technology

For presentations and artistic responses, offer students the option of powerpoint or video in addition a standard presentation. For the board game activity, consider creating an online game with the same general characteristics.

Because the Odyssey is necessarily read in translation, an audiobook would be a useful resource--perhaps the version of the Robert Fagles translation read by Ian McKellen.

Another resource that could be of use is "O Brother, Where Art Thou," a loose film adaptation of the Odyssey set in the Depression-era Deep South. The film might encourage students put off by the language and exoticism of Homer to open up to the text.
